Well, the first ever BWA Music show from the Pic a Deli has come and gone, while not being a spectacular extravaganza, I think it was OK for a first attempt.
A super special thanks to all those that participated, it wouldn't have happened at all without you comming out and offering your time as performers.
Big round of applause for Chris (whateverhislastnameis) (AKA Young Chris, AKAKA, BooBoo) for his great opening set, which, I thought was one of his best I have ever seen. The Acapulco song was excellent. Good job BooBoo.
Always nice to see Redman Live Live at the Pic a Deli, and, always a great show by them, although, they should look into a quieter lead guitar player I think.
Great set by Carrie Lynn and Lawrence who are on sabatical from their band Big Love. If you ever get a chance to see this band do, you won't be dissapointed, great arrangements, great harmonies, and, superb writing. Together as a duo, they are certainly no less than their full band forays. Hope to have you both out again soon.
HHHMMMM, on to Dave Taylor and me, probably our worst set in the 5 or so years we have played together. Oh well! Thanks to Hank Redman for doing some drumming for us, and, to young Jeramia for some nice bass work, unfortunately, between the two of them, they couldn't save us. We'll be better next time. Actually, we were better next time, about 2 hours later to be exact. After packing up at The Deli, I stopped by at The Moonshine Cafe to drop some equipement off, and, Dave was there just waiting for the band to clear the stage, and, we did almost an hour set with just banjo, acoustic guitar and Daves great vocals. It was pretty good.
And, last but not least,Ralph Privitera, what can I say, except, thanks for showing up, but, next time, BRING THE WHOLE BAND Eh!
Well, it was a fun, if not just a wee bit stressfull night for me, and my friend Guy who helped me out with setting up and figuring out the new PA board generously loaned to us by Gear Music. Gear also provides the drum kit. Don't forget to check Gear out for all your musical needs, a great bunch of really helpfull and knowledgable guys. Thanks Dave.
